Plugin

Drupal plugins are small sets of code that provide additional functionality to Drupal subsystems or modules that support plugins. Plugins are always part of core or contributed modules, and give developers a consistent, unified way to add, for instance, new image styles, field types, field formatters, field widgets, and blocks.
