Role

A name for a group of users to which you can collectively assign permissions. There are two predefined, locked roles for every new Drupal installation: authenticated user (anyone who is logged in) and anonymous user (anyone visitor currently not logged in). Additional roles can be created and users can belong to more than one. See users, permissions and roles.
