Transliteration

The process of converting text from one writing system or script to another, usually in a different language or character set. The goal of transliteration is to represent the same sounds or phonetic values of words or phrases in a different script, making it easier for readers who are familiar with the target script to understand and pronounce the text. Example: "élève" (French for student) transliterated to English becomes "eleve".
